Write one leaf about something that stops your heart.

Rounding the corner, I was in my usual mindset for a Friday afternoon. My ipod was in my ear, keys to the car burning a hole in my hand, and my mind was already thinking about what I was going to do later that night.

Thats when I saw him.

I must admit, he blended in well with the work crowd. But I could pick him out fastin the sea of suits and ties. I quickly turned around and walked in the opposite direction, paying every step that he hadn’t spotted me. I could feel every bruise and scar on my body begin to beat in rhythm with my heart. My knees were getting weak, my head was getting light, everything was shutting down and I had to get away from him.

I made it back around the corner and stood still for five seconds. I was waiting for the bastard to walk around that corner so I could use my phone to beat his head until the white meat showed. But he didn’t show. I finally took a breath again and turned around to take the long way to my car.

Thats when I felt a tap on my shoulder. Thats when I turned around and saw my abusive ex standing right in front of me. Thats when my heart stopped beating.
